Enjoy the Amsterdam Festival of Lights from the canals, and discover the city specially decorated for the occasion!
The Amsterdam Festival of Lights takes place every year from late November to mid-January, and gives the city of Amsterdam a unique atmosphere during its festive months.
You'll enjoy an hour-and-a-quarter cruise on Amsterdam's canals, and have the chance to catch a glimpse of twenty of the festival's illuminated works of art, all from the comfort of your own home. The cruise is commentated from loudspeakers in English and Dutch, so you can learn more about Amsterdam, the Festival of Lights and the artworks that parade before you.
Cooler types will appreciate the "covered boat" option, and its heated interior. The boat has large windows and a transparent roof so you can enjoy the works of the Amsterdam Festival of Lights.
Want to get as close as possible to the works? enjoy the "open boat" option, a smaller boat, and as the name suggests, without a roof. To make sure the experience isn't spoiled by the Dutch cold, you'll be lent plaids for the duration of the cruise. This is also the best option if you want to immortalize the works in photos!
From November 28, 2024 to January 19, 2025 will take place the 13th edition of the Amsterdam Festival of Lights, this year's theme: Rituals.
This year's works on the theme "Rituals" echo the way in which everyday rituals shape our lives, our evolution, unite us and bring us together. So you'll discover that light is also a ritual: candles, wood fires in winter, campfires in summer, fireworks to usher in the new year..
