Discover all of the wonders of southern Lebanon on this tour to Sidon, Tyre and Maghdouche.
- Tour of Tyre and the Necropolis
After the pick-up from your hotel you will be taken to the tour departure point in central Beirut. The tour will start in Tyre, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1984. You can admire the necropolis and take a walk along the seafront near the small fishing port.
- Tour of Maghdouche
You will continue your day in Maghdouche, a city heavily influenced by Christianity. According to history, Jesus went to Sidon accompanied by the Virgin Mary. Mary waited for him on the hilltop where Maghdouche is now located, and spent the night in a cave now known as Mantara ("waiting"). Today, there is a 8.5 metre bronze statue of the Virgin Mary holding her child in her arms.
- Lunch & Tour of Sidon and the Sea Castle
Next, the excursion will continue to Sidon, a large Lebanese city with Greek and Egyptian influences. You will then take a pleasant break for lunch in a local restaurant where you can sample delicious mezze (an assortment of small Lebanese dishes) and a glass of Arak (a traditional beverage).
After lunch, you can visit the Sea Castle, the Khan el Franj ("house of the French", the former French Consulate), the Great Mosque and the Soap Museum. Your guide will tell you all about this city, which has become one of the most modern cities in the south of Lebanon.
You will then be taken back to Beirut after this fantastic day.
