Valachia is, along with Moldavia and Transylvania, one of the three medieval principality that formed today's Romania. His Prince Constantin Brancovan (Romanian: Brâncoveanu) was known for trying to preserve the independence of Wallachia, and for implementing a balanced policy with Moldavia and Transylvania. Above all, Prince Brancovan remained an important cultural figure, and many buildings were erected in his honour: churches, palaces, monasteries...
During your excursion, you'll follow in the footsteps of the former principality of Wallachia through the heritage of Prince Brancovan.
You'll be transferred from your accommodation in central Bucharest to the commune of Potlogi, where you'll find the palace of the same name. Built in 1698, the palace was built for the son of Prince Brancovan. You'll visit the palace (entrance ticket not included).
Then on to Mogoșoaia Palace, which was converted into an inn on the death of Prince Brancovan and restored by a Romanian aristocratic figure. Nestled in a green ridge, with one of its façades on the edge of a lake, you'll let yourself be carried away throughout the palace tour (entrance ticket not included).
Finally, you'll head to the Căldărușani monastery, built in 1638 on a peninsula on the shores of Lake Caldarusani, surrounded by nature. It housed a printing works, then a painting school founded by the artist Nicolae Grigorescu. You'll visit the monastery.
You'll be driven back to your accommodation in Bucharest after an excursion in Wallachia.
