Ancient capital of Wallachia in 1659, Bucharest (București) was a city of trade and crafts, so its historic center "Rue Lipscani" features numerous references to ancient trades, medieval ruins and particularly well-preserved facades from yesteryear. Bucharest's mixed architecture makes it a unique capital, with neoclassical buildings, medieval ruins and more modern Soviet-style buildings all on the same street.
You'll meet your guide in the historic center called Rue Lipscani. After a brief introduction, you'll set off to discover the Romanian capital. You'll discover:
- Calea Victoriei, Victory Avenue, the city's main shopping street. Recognizable in particular with its many luxury signs
- The church of the Stavropoleos Monastery, an Orthodox church
- University Square (Piața Universității)
- Bucharest's Royal Palace (Palatul Regal), and its French classical architecture, which today houses the National Art Museum of Romania
- The Romanian Athenaeum, the concert hall in the city center and the 6 columns at the entrance
- Bucharest's Palace of Parliament and its Soviet architecture
