After being picked up from your hotel, you'll go to Johannesburg centre to visit the city in a private vehicle. You'll see many monuments and will makes several stops to see the city's finest sights. Your guide will tell you all about the history of Johannesburg and its citizens (in English, French or German).

Next, you'll go to Soweto Township, where you can talk with neighbourhood locals. You'll get the chance to visit the Regina Mundi cathedral, the biggest Catholic church in South Africa, as well as Nelson Mandela's home! You'll also visit the Hector Pieterson Museum, built by Nelson Mandela in 2002 and which pays homage to the young man who was killed during the Soweto riots. Your guide will also take you to the Freedom Square, a historic square where the South African opposition was held

Lastly, you'll take a guided visit of the Apartheid Museum, the only of its kind in the world, to learn more about South Africa's history. While here, you can see a rich collection of documentation related to Apartheid (texts, photos, etc.), such as the last interview Mandela gave after his arrest. The museum offers an in-depth look at this time, allowing visitors to better understand what life was like during Apartheid.
