Go for a bike ride through Chapultepec Park with a local guide!
Capultepec Park ("hill of the locusts" in Nahuatl, the language of the Aztecs), is the largest urban park in America, twice as big as Central Park in New York! A bike tour is ideal for getting around the area more quickly and seeing as many of the monuments as possible.
You will join your guide in the early morning to make the most of the visit while it is not too busy. You will then leave for a 2-hour bike ride.
You will start at the Monuments to the Niños Héroes, dedicated to six Mexican military cadets killed in the Battle of Chapultepec. You will continue your visit along the two lakes in the park, which act as the lungs of the city. You will also pass the zoo, the second largest in Mexico and much appreciated by the locals for its diversity.
From the alleys of the park you will be able to see the Castillo de Chapultepecdominating the city, an 18th-century castle that was the imperial residence of Emperor Maximilian and then the official residence of Porfirio Díaz. Because of its size and beauty, it is considered a work of art, and it is now home to the National History Museum.
Finally, depending on the day, you can attend the Voladores de Papantla, a Veracruz traditional ritual ceremony, which involves much dancing, and climbing a 30-metre pole! Your guide will take the opportunity to recount the history and secrets of this wonderful spectacle.
After this tour, during which you will have discovered the main interests of Chapultepec Park, you will be taken back to the departure point.
