Description

Discover the speakeasies of Prohibition-era New York and walk in the footsteps of immigrants in their quest for the American dream!

The United States banned the sale and consumption of alcohol in the early 20th century. During the prohibition period, many underground 'speakeasies' were established. They were called speakeasies because patrons had to order alcohol with a whisper, at the risk of being caught by the police.

Your guide will introduce you to one of New York's most famous secret bars of the 1920s. Learn about the famous gangsters and bootleggers of the time and sample the house's speciality cocktail. Continue your tour and head into a typical bar of the American belle époque. To finish up, you'll head to one of New York's oldest bars where your guide will provide plenty of historical facts and explain why the prohibition era suddenly ended.
