Description

Discover how Ganghwa island was, for many centuries, at the heart of Korean history during a guided excursion leaving from Seoul!

A shuttle will pick you up directly from your hotel in Seoul to take you to Ganghwa Island.

You will first visit the Ganghwa history Museum where you will discover the dominant role of the island in Korean history since prehistoric times until today.

You will then discover Gwangseongbo, the fortress which was a main place of battle against the Americans during the American expedition of 1871.

Your guide will take you to Jeondeung Temple, one of Korea's oldest Buddhist temples. You will admire the temple's traditional architecture while your guide tells you all about its history.

After a lunch of local specialities, you will be driven to the Ganghwa dolmens site where you will discover this burial site listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Your last stop of the day will be to the site of the Goryeo Royal Palace where the court of King Gojong of Goryeo moved in the 12th century while the Mongols attempted to invade the kingdom.

Finally, a shuttle will take you back to your hotel in Seoul.
