Visit the Palace of Monserrate and its park in Sintra, and discover its unique architecture!
During your stay in Lisbon, you'll probably head to Sintra to discover the many palaces that surround the city. Ceetiz recommends a visit to the Palais de Monserrate and its gardens, a unique blend of Gothic, Indian and Moorish influences that makes this palace one of the jewels of romantic architecture in Portugal. The Palace of Monserrate is still an undiscovered address, as travelers prefer to discover the National Palace of Pena or Sintra, yet this palace has much to offer.
The latest restoration, which was faithful to the original palace, took place in 2016, and as you stroll through the palace you'll notice the stone carvings and the shape of the doors, which echo the palaces of the Middle East, not to mention the high ceilings and domes.
Don't miss the garden, which we believe is one of the most beautiful of all the palaces surrounding Sintra. You'll find a Mexican garden and fern gardens that will take you on a voyage of discovery.
