Discover the history of the tea culture by visiting Pinglin Plantation, just outside Taipei!
You'll meet up with your guide in Taipei, and hop aboard a bus for an afternoon of sightseeing on the theme of tea. The Pinglin district, west of Taipei, is famous for its production of baozhong (or pouchong) tea, a hybrid between green tea and oolong tea.
You'll first stop at Thousand Island Lake, less than an hour's drive from Taipei. The lake is actually an artificial body of water, but is impressive for its turquoise water and its many islets.
You will then visit the Bagua tea plantation, located not far from the lake. From the top of the hill, you can admire the countless rows of tea plants.
Next stop: the Pinglin Tea Museum, a must for tea lovers. The museum boasts a vast collection of traditional harvesting tools, tea services and many other objects that will help you discover the history of Taiwan tea production.
And, of course, you'll have the opportunity to taste several varieties of Taiwan tea in an authentic tea room! A tea master will show you how to brew tea correctly to bring out all its flavors.
You'll be driven back to Taipei at the end of the tour.
