Description

Enjoy a spiritual experience in the heart of Tokyo and discover the secrets of an authentic tea ceremony!

The quest for Zen or peace of mind and being is a fundamental element of Japanese spirituality. This search for inner serenity involves various rituals, such as meditation and the tea ceremony.

During this activity, you'll learn about the tea ceremony, an ancestral and traditional custom that consists of preparing and tasting green matcha tea. You'll also learn about the principles of Zen spirituality.

You'll start by tasting traditional Japanese sweet snacks (wagashi) that are served with the matcha tea served during the ceremony. This will begin shortly afterwards, and a nationally recognised tea master will teach you all about the process of preparing this green tea. During the ceremony, you'll learn more about Zen spirituality, its practice and its expression in Japanese art and architecture.

After this fascinating experience with combines tradition, sharing and meditation, you'll be able to follow the tea master's instructions by preparing tea yourself according to ancestral methods. You'll be guided through the entire process to ensure that your preparation is carried out according to tea ceremony rules.
